Rules

  1. The Good-Writes Poetry Competition is open to anyone aged 18 or over.

  2. All poems entered must be written in English.

  3. Entries may be up to fifty lines in length, on any topic and in any format.
  4. Poems must not previously have been published and must be the entrant's own, original work. This includes self-publication, web publication or publication on social media.
  5. The closing date for the 2023/4 competition will be midnight, UK Time, on 29th February 2024.

  6. All entries entries accepted will be published in the Good-Writes Competition Anthology, to be published in July 2024.

  7. The author retains copyright of their poem but, by entering this competition, entrants assign the right without further compensation for use of the entered material for publication in the Competition Anthology, broadcasting and/or display on the Good-Writes website.

  8. Entrants deemed by the judges not to meet the standards for the anthology will be informed, and their entry fees will be refunded.

  9. Entries must be submitted using the entry form on this website.

  10. Prize winners will be announced by conference call from this website at 12 noon British Summer Time on 31st May 2024. All entrants will be informed by email of the result of their entry and and the results will be published on this website.

  11. The judges will read all entries anonymously and the poet's name must not appear on the poem.

  12. The judges' decisions are final and no correspondence will be entered into regarding the results.

  13. Each poem entered will be subject to a judging fee of £5.00.

  14. There is no limit to the number of poems an individual entrant may submit.
